With Strong Second Half, #6 Red Ravens Defeat Neosho 84-56

Coffeyville, Kan. - Behind a strong second half, the #6 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Basketball team defeated the Panthers of Neosho 84-56.  The win pushes the Red Ravens overall record to a sterling 15-1 including a 13-1 KJCCC conference mark.  The 13-1 conference mark has Coffeyville currently in first place in the KJCCC East division.

The Red Ravens were slow to warm-up in this one.  Even in holding a slim 40-38 halftime lead, the Ravens seemed to be letting Neosho hang around in an unsettling way.  However, those thoughts were quickly dashed in the second half as Coffeyville completely dismantled the Panthers, outscoring Neosho in the second half 44-18 to earn the 84-56 victory.

Coffeyville led Neosho in almost all statistical categories including shooting (49% to 32%), rebounds (40-37), assists (14-6), and turnovers (13-16).  The Raven bench showed out as well outscoring the Neosho bench 18-7.

Coffeyville's strong scoring depth shown through with four players in double figures including sophomore Tylor Perry with a team-high 22 points (including shooting 4/8 from the three-point line), freshman Love Bettis with 16 points, sophomore Bostyn Holt with 14 points, and sophomore Kevaughn Ellis also with 14 points.  Raven freshman center Blaise Keita ended the night with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Next up for the Red Ravens will be a road game to play the Cloud County Thunderbirds.  The game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17th in Concordia Kansas.  Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
