Coach John Horton will begin his first year of coaching here at Coffeyville Community College.  He will be assisting in the Sprints and in charge of the Jumps here at CCC. Prior to CCC, Coach Horton attended The University of Houston where he received his Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership & Supervision. While competing at University of Houston, Coach Horton was able to achieve success on both the track and in the classroom.

Coach Horton had Personal records of 52’5” in the triple jump and 24’8” in the long jump before ending his collegiate career early due to a ruptured patellar tendon injury at the Texas Relays.

Coach Horton also bolstered the jumps in High School where he was selected to compete for Team Texas at the Great Southwest Invitational track meet two times (2010 &2011) where he won the triple jump in 2010 & the long jump in 2011. On the high school level Coach Horton still holds his school records in both the triple jump (51’3”) and the long jump (24’5”) which were both set his senior year in 2011 at Copperas Cove High School.

Coach Horton is not new to coaching as he coached AAU track and field.  Also his knowledge he took from his Olympic coaching staff at the University of Houston.
