Biography:

Delice Downing enters her 15th season at the helm of the Red Raven volleyball program in 2019. In 14 years, she has a career record of 390-172 (.694) and is the all-time winningest coach in school history.

In 2018, the Red Ravens captured their second consecutive NJCAA DII Volleyball national title in Charleston, WV, making their third national tournament appearance in school history.

Coffeyville's second national title win came in a dominating fashion, winning the national tournament without dropping a set.  The Red Ravens advanced to the national tournament as the No. 1 seed after winning the District N championship over Cowley in a epic five set match.  Finishing the season with a 40-3 record, the Red Ravens held the No. 1 spot in eight of the ten NJCAA DII polls this season.  Downing's team accumulated a 0.339 hitting percentage, good for second in the NJCAA.  They also ranked third in team kills per set (13.25) and assists per set (12.61).  Coffeyville landed three players on the NJCAA DII All-America First Team - sophomore setter Dekyra Dennis, sophomore outside hitter Adianez Reyes Rivera, and freshman outside hitter Seliann Rodriguez. Downing was also paramount in the development of Adaianez Reyes Rivera who was named the NJCAA Division II National Player of the year

Downing racked in the awards in 2018 including NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Coach of the Tournament, NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Champion AVCA, Two-Year College Midwest Region Coaches of the Year, and the highest honor in Division II Volleyball The 2018 Tachikara NJCAA Division II Coach of the Year. 

In 2017, Downing led her program to a 44-2 record while winning the KJCCC Tournament and winning Coffeyville's first every Volleyball NJCAA National Championship.  Downing was named NJCAA Coach of the Tournament.  The Red Ravens finished ranked number 4 in the nation in the last poll.

The 2016 season proved another successful year for Downing as she led her team to a 38-4 record while reaching the NJCAA Tournament.

In 2015, Downing led the Ravens to a 33-10 overall record including a 7-2 mark and a third place finish in the Jayhawk Conference. Last season marked the seventh straight season in which the Ravens have won at least 20 matches. The Ravens have won at least 19 matches each season with Downing as head coach.

Downing coached a second team NJCAA All-American in 2015 (Frances Taylor) and two first team All-Jayhawk Conference selections (Taylor and Carolina Machado) and one second team All-Jayhawk Conference selection (Taylor Clay).

In 2014, Downing led the Ravens to a 25-12 overall record.  Four Ravens were named to the 2014 All-Jayhawk Conference Team including first team selection Polette Medina.

In 2013, Downing led the Ravens to a 21-13 overall record.  In 2012, Downing led the Ravens to a 29-11 record including a second place finish in both Region VI and Jayhawk Conference standings. The Ravens came within one win of advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament in 2012.

In 2011, the Ravens finished 20-18 with three players being named to the All-Conference team including first teamer Pamela Lima who was third nationally in kills. The 20 wins were the third straight season of 20 or more wins for the program.

Coach Downing’s 2010 team finished 24-19 and came within one match of qualifying for nationals. The team finished as the District N runner-up in 2010. 

Downing’s 2009 team finished the year with a 24-13 overall record. Her 2007 team set a school record for wins in a season, finished the year with a 33-13 overall mark. Downing led the Red Raven volleyball program to two consecutive 20-plus win seasons in her first two years as Head Coach.

Downing played volleyball, softball and basketball at CCC from 1998 to 2000. In volleyball, she was KJCCC Freshman in the Year in 1998-99 and was conference MVP in 1999-2000. She was also first team all-conference in both her freshman and sophomore years. Downing was also named second team all-conference in softball in 1998-99. Downing graduated from CCC in May 2000.

After CCC, Downing transferred to the University of West Alabama on a volleyball scholarship and was a two-year starter on the volleyball team at the university. She received the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award in 2002. Downing was a student assistant volleyball coach at West Alabama and was also head coach of the JV volleyball team in 2002. She graduated in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree.

Delice has a daughter, Aahlice, and sons, Adrian, and Dash, who passed away in July 2015.
