
Coffeyville, Kan. - Coffeyville Community College Women's Volleyball Team took their shot at the #1 NJCAA ranked Johnson County Community College. The Red Ravens seemed to gather some confidence as the match progressed, however, the young Coffeyville team fell 3-0 to the Cavaliers of Johnson County. With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 12-6 including a 2-3 KJCCC record.
Coffeyville started off tentatively losing the first set 25-12 to the #1 team in the nation. The Ravens' lost the second set 25-14 but seemed to start gathering some footing with some confidence. The third set saw Coffeyville fight hard with Coffeyville leading most of the set however the #1 Cavaliers responded defeating Coffeyville 25-20 to take the 3-0 defeat of Coffeyville.
Red Raven freshman Sarah Madsen led the team with 8 kills to go along with 10 digs. Freshman Patience Whittaker led defensively picking up a team-leading 15 digs in the match.
Coffeyville will return to action on Friday, September 23rd with a home triangular in Nellis East Gymnasium that begins with a 1:00 pm matchup with Coffeyville playing Pratt Community College and a 5:00 pm match between the Red Ravens and Friends University JV.
