
The #2 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College volleyball team competed in a home match against the #4 ranked Cowley Tigers on Wednesday night Oct 16th. The Red Ravens swept the Tigers 3-0 (25-18, 19, 14) in a boisterous Nellis Hall to notch another win on the season. The win pushes the Red Ravens overall record to 33-2 and 8-0 in KJCCC action.
The first set saw Coffeyville grab a 1-2 point lead early on which they maintained until the end of the first set where the Ravens were then able to extend out for the 25-18 first set victory. The second set was even closer with the Ravens and Tigers staying within a couple of points of each other again until the end when Coffeyville was able to string a few points together to earn the 25-19 second set win. Up 2-0 in the match, Coffeyville jumped quickly on Cowley in the 3rd set gaining a 7-8 point lead early on which enabled the Ravens to coast to the 25-14 3rd set victory and sweep in the match.
Red Raven stat leaders included sophmore Faith Simpson with 15 kills and 5 service aces, sophomore Seliann Concepcion with 7 kills and 16 digs, sophomore Danielle Dodge with 16 digs, freshman Chloe Price with 24 assists, and freshman Zoey Schmidt with 8 kills.
Coffeyville's season will continue next with a home match up against cross border rivals NEO on Tuesday, October 22nd. The match is schedule in Nellis Hall at 6:30 pm.
