Ravens Win District M Championship, Advance to National Tournament

For the first time in school history, the Coffeyville Red Ravens have advanced to the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. The Ravens qualified after winning the District M Championship on Saturday afternoon in Nellis Hall in Coffeyville.

As the top seed in the region, Coffeyville earned the right to host a district qualifier and they took full advantage of playing on their homecourt. Coffeyville opened the district tournament by sweeping the Hesston Larks 3-0. In the second district match of the day, the Fort Scott Greyhounds earned the right to play Coffeyville for the district title by sweeping the Highland Scotties 3-0.

Coffeyville took care of business in the championship match, defeating Fort Scott 3-0. The win was the 32nd in a row by Coffeyville and they will enter national tournament play with a 37-1 record. The only loss was to Fort Scott during the conference portion of the season and the Ravens avenged that one in championship fashion. The 37 wins by the Ravens is a school record.

The NJCAA D-II National Tournament will be hosted in Charleston, West Virginia at the Charleston Civic Center on Nov. 17 through Nov. 19. Brackets will be released early in the upcoming week.
