Garden City, Kan. - The #17 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team traveled to Garden City Community College and defeated the Broncbusters 3-1. With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall record improves to 7-1-1 including a 3-0-1 mark in KJCCC matchups.
The Red Ravens opened the scoring in the game with freshman Emely Nezi netting a goal with an assist from freshman Thayline Teixeira just 19 minutes into the contest to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead over the Broncbusters.
Ten minutes into the second half Coffeyville struck again with Teixeira scoring an unassisted goal to give the Red Ravens a 2-0 lead with 35 minutes left to play.
Barely a minute after the Teixeira goal, the Broncbusters broke onto the scoreboard with a goal of their own to make it a 2-1 Coffeyville lead.
Fifty seconds after the Broncbuster goal, Nezi again gave the Ravens a two-goal advantage with her second goal of the game, and just like the first, it was assisted by Teixeira. This gave Coffeyville a 3-1 advantage with 32 minutes remaining and that is what the final score ended up being, 3-1 in favor of Coffeyville.
Coffeyville will return to Veterans Memorial Stadium with a home match scheduled on Wednesday, September 21st against the Blue Devils of KCK. Kick-off on the 21st is set for 5:00 pm.
