Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team lost 2-1 in a heartbreaking double-overtime match to #12 ranked Monroe College Mustangs. With the loss, Coffeyville's 2021 overall record drops to 5-4 including a 4-2 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches. The Ravens are currently in second place in the KJCCC Division I East standings behind the 6-0 KJCCC record of Butler Community College.
Monroe jumped on the board quickly with a goal barely three minutes into the match. The Ravens regrouped and played out a tough first half and netted the equalizer at the 34th minute of the first half. Red Raven freshman Bianca Rea took a nice assist from freshman Keylsi Elias and squarely got the ball past the Mustang goalie to tie the score up at 1-1. The teams went into halftime knotted up at 1-1.
The second half saw neither team able to pull ahead with regulation ending with the same 1-1 score.
Monroe finally broke the tie in the second overtime scoring 3 minutes into the second overtime period.
Coffeyville will look to rebound with a home match scheduled for Wednesday, September 29th against the Blue Devils of Kansas City Community College. The kickoff is set for 5:00 pm. in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
