Red Raven Women's Soccer Win in 1st Round of Region VI Tourney vs Hesston

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's soccer team defeated the Hesston College Larks 4-0 in the opening round of the Region VI Women's Soccer Tournament.

After multiple first round playoff losses from seasons prior, the win for the Red Ravens was the first ever Region VI playoff victory for the women's soccer program.

Val Stuerman, Red Raven sophomore from Shawnee Kansas, started the scoring early with a goal at the ten minute mark of match. Shelby Clay, sophomore from Augusta Kansas, assisted Stuerman on the goal. 

Red Raven freshmen Andrea Comper, from France, put her mark on the match with two goals, the first at the 35 min mark of the first half and the second at the 87th minute of the second half.  Mia Her, sophomore from Olathe Kansas assisted Comper on the her first goal and sophomore Vika Hassel, from Silver Creek Colorado, assisted on Comper's second goal.

The final goal of the evening was reversed with Hassel scoring the goal with an assist by Comper at the 89th minute.

A stellar performance in goal was turned in for the Red Ravens by freshmen goal keeper Amy Epp, from Mission Kansas, earning the shutout on nine shot attempts.

The win moves the Red Ravens (10-7-2) to the semi final round of the Region VI Tournament where they will face the Butler County Grizzlies (18-2) on November 3rd at 4:00 p.m. at Hummer Park in Topeka Kansas.
