#RV Red Ravens Suffer First Loss of Season with a 66-53 Defeat at #1 Hutchinson

Hutchinson, Kan. - In a battle of the last two undefeated teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC), the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team suffered their first loss of the season with a 66-53 road defeat at the hands of the #1 NJCAA-ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 8-1 including a 3-1 record in KJCCC matchups.

The first half at Hutchinson was a rough start for the Lady Ravens.  Coffeyville found themselves down 7-0 to start the game and were trailing 18-7 after the first quarter and went into halftime trailing 35-13.  The Red Ravens were 1-8 from the 3-point line in the first half while the #1 ranked Blue Dragons were a scorching 8-14 on 3-pointers in the opening half.

Coffeyville had a better second half, outscoring Hutchinson 40-31 in the second half, but the 22-point halftime deficit was ultimately too much to overcome in the 66-53 loss.

The Ravens outrebounded the Blue Dragons 46-32, however, 21 turnovers for the Ravens combined with only making 3 from behind the arc compared to the 15 makes for Hutchinson was the difference in the game.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included freshman guard Karliey Parker who had 12 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 steals, sophomore guard Karys Washington with 11 points and 9 rebounds, and freshman forward Aubrey Hishaw, who managed a 10-point 10-rebound double-double.

Coffeyville will look to get back into the win column as they travel to face the Broncbusters of Garden City on Saturday, December 7th.  Tipoff in Garden City is slated for 2:00 p.m.
