
Great Bend, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team could not overcome one of their worst quarters of the season in a 67-43 defeat to the Cougars of Barton in the Region VI Women's Division I Quarterfinals. With the loss, Coffeyville ends their season with an overall record of 20-12.
The Red Ravens just could not get started in the first quarter against the Cougars. Red Raven sophomore Bailey Layman made a 3-pointer at the 6:27 mark of the first quarter and that was it offensively for Coffeyville in the quarter. At the end of the quarter, Barton led Coffeyville 16-3 and the Ravens were fighting uphill for the remainder of the game. Coffeyville did respond in the second quarter, scoring 15 points to go into halftime down 31-18. In the second half, Coffeyville was able to score some, but Barton was just too much down the stretch and the Cougars were able to post the 67-43 victory.
For the game, Coffeyville shot 3/17 (18%) from behind the arc in the game and 18/42 (43%) overall compared to Barton's 7/18 (39%) from three and 26/52 (50%) overall. Barton bested Coffeyville in turnovers (18-10) and rebounds (30-22).
Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore Ivy Fox with 8 points, sophomore Jae'Mya Lyons with 7 points and 5 rebounds, and sophomore Janae Black-Harmon with 7 points.
