Coffeyville, Kan. - In the spirit of getting some payback for a loss earlier in the season, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team defeated the Pratt Beavers 69-58. With the victory, the Red Ravens improve their overall season record to 17-11 including a 13-9 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference record. The 13-9 KJCCC record currently has Coffeyville in fifth place in the KJCCC Div I standings.
Way back on January 7th, the Pratt Beavers defeated the Ravens in Pratt 69-57. So in hosting the Beavers, Coffeyville was able to get some payback ironically with almost the exact same score, only reversed.
In this game, it was a strong second half that powered the Ravens over the Beavers. Coffeyville outscored Pratt 19-11 in the third quarter and 18-14 in the fourth quarter. Coffeyville was also strong on the boards, outrebounding Pratt 49-36.
Red Raven freshman guard Tetona Woods-Blackowl had an excellent game for Coffeyville as she scored her career-high of 16 points as well as adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Sophomore center Cheyenne Banks pitched in 13 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. The Coffeyville trio of Kennady Roach, Bailey Layman, and Jordynn Conner each added 8 points a piece in the winning effort.
The Red Ravens' next contest will be at home on Saturday, February 25th as they will host the Seward County Saints. Tip-off in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
