
Great Bend, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team traveled to Great Bend Kansas and fell to the #20 NJCAA-ranked Barton Cougars 70-51. With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record moves to 15-9 including an 11-7 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games. The 11-7 KJCCC record currently has Coffeyville in fifth place in the 13-team KJCCC Div I conference.
Coffeyville and Barton were close through the first half with Barton holding a slim 29-26 lead at halftime. This game was decided in the second half and in particular the fourth quarter where the Cougars outscored the Ravens 26-14 in the quarter. Coffeyville shot 40% overall from the field in the fourth including just 14% (1 for 7) from behind the arc compared to Barton's overall percentage of 64% in the quarter including 80% (4 for 5) from behind the arc.
Game leaders for the Ravens included freshman guard Kyleigh Ortiz and sophomore guard Kennady Roach both with 9 points along with sophomore Jordynn Conner and freshman Bailey Layman both with 7 points.
Coffeyville returns to action on Wednesday, February 8th with a home matchup against the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College. Tip-off is scheduled in Nellis Hall for 5:30 pm.
