
Great Bend, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team's season came to end with an 80-71 defeat at the hands of the Cougars of Barton Community College in the Region VI Tournament Quarterfinals. With the loss, the Red Ravens 2020-21 season comes to an end with a 15-7 overall record.
Coffeyville was close throughout in this one, only being down one point after the first quarter (16-15) and down 2 points (39-37) at halftime. Both teams scored 21 points in the third quarter which enabled Coffeyville to enter the fourth quarter only down two points, 60-58. However, the fourth quarter saw the Cougars of Barton build a two-score lead and hold off the Ravens with the 80-71 defeat.
Foul trouble was a problem for the Ravens, Coffeyville was whistled for 25 fouls to 11 for Barton. Barton easily led from the free-throw line shooting 24 of 36 from the charity stripe to Coffeyville's 6 of 9.
Other stats from the game include Barton shooting a little better in the game (46% to 40%) and having fewer turnovers (14-18), however, Coffeyville had more rebounds (40-36) and shot better from the three-point line (27% to 21%).
Sophomore center Faith Simpson ended her Raven career with a 24 point, 11 rebound double-double, the 17th double-double of her Red Raven career. Freshman guard Amiya Josey tied her career-best with 18 points and freshman guard Paige Scott connected for 11 points.
