Red Raven Women's Basketball Edge NEO 61-60 With Basket at Buzzer

The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team earned their second one point victory of the year with a 61-60 buzzer beating victory against cross border rivals NEO.  The win extends the Ravens early season winning streak as well as their overall record to an impressive 4-0.

The game was close through out with Coffeyville jumping out to a 27-18 halftime lead.  However, the third quarter saw the Golden Norsemen of NEO outscore the Ravens 24-15 to bring the game close heading into the fourth quarter.  Coming down to the last few seconds, the Ravens, behind 59-60, had the ball and Raven sophomore McKenzie Murrel-Patton took a 3 point attempt with about 3 seconds left on the clock.  Her attempt bounced off the rim but Raven sophomore Ania Morkowska was able to secure the rebound directly under the basket and flip up a quick shot that fell in the hoop just as the buzzer was going off to end the game.  Game...Ravens 61 NEO 60.

Top players for Coffeyville in the victory included Markowska who had a 15-11-5 stat line of points, rebounds and assists along with freshman Tynica Gilmore with 11 points and 9 rebounds.  Coffeyville spread the ball around with four players scoring in double figures.  Markowska and Gilmore had 15 and 11 points respectively and freshmen Kailyn Lay and sophmore Murrel-Patton each had 10 points.
