Shooting Woes Ground Red Ravens

In a conference match up that saw the Red Ravens women's basketball team host #17 Hutchinson Blue Dragons, the Red Ravens took a 62-43 loss.  The loss puts the Red Ravens at 10-11 overall and 8-9 in conference.

Playing with nine players for the eighth consecutive game has taken a toll on head coach Stephen Harrel's team.  Coming out, the women looked to press in their offense only to come up a step short in each of their first three possessions.

Bad ball control by the Red Ravens lead to the Blue Dragons to take an early 6-0 lead, one in which they would never look back from.

The game showed a different side of a Red Ravens team that fans have come to expect.  Coach Harrel has had his women scratching, clawing, and all out hustle since their team was hit by injuries.  His players have bought into that scheme.  However, tonight, the women looked sluggish and unwilling to attack a Hutch team that started out slow as well.

If you were to ask Harrel if his team was tired, he wouldn't use that as an excuse.  Saying that every team faces adversity.

In the game, spectators saw uncharacteristic play from standouts such as Lucy Burke, Sky Jasper, and Alexis Wooden.  Regularly seen leading the team in most offensive categories, the women shot 3/13, 2/14, and 0/4 respectively.

Recent hot hand T'era Fullove, freshman, failed to put points on the board or pull down a rebound for the first time in 2018.

The Red Ravens did see good offensive production from point guard Cedreanna Lee.  Lee posted 10 points, going 2/3 from the three point line, while adding an assist and a rebound to her line.

The women will regroup and get back to practice this week as they prepare for their next match at Cloud on Wednesday.
