Red Raven Women's Basketball Moves to Second Round of Region VI Tourney By Defeating Neosho 81-46

The #4 seeded Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team defeated the the #13 seeded Neosho Panthers 81-46 in the opening round of the Region VI Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

The win moves the Red Ravens overall season record to 21-9 and more importantly moves the Red Ravens into the quarterfinal round of Region VI Tournament where they will face the #5 seeded Cloud County Thunderbirds.

Against Neosho, the Red Ravens jumped out early, building a 28-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The rest of the game was more of the same, with Coffeyville outscoring Neosho in every quarter en route to the 81-46 victory.

Coffeyville out rebounded Neosho (44-32) and out shoot them (42% to 24%).

Statistical leaders for the Red Ravens include freshmen forward Lucy Burke (13 points on 3 of 6 from beind the arc), freshmen forward Sky Jasper (11 points), sophomore center Brianna Craig (11 points), sophomore guard Desiree Nelson (8 points and 7 rebounds), sophomore guard Alanie Fisher (8 points) and freshmen forward Alexis Wooden (6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 asists).

The Red Ravens matchup against Cloud County in the Quarterfinal Round of the Region VI Tournament will be played on Monday, March 6th at the Hartmen Arena in Park City, Kansas.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
