On the road at Butler Community College, the Red Raven women's basketball team lost 70-77.
The loss drops the Red Ravens to an overall record of 19-8 and 18-6 in the KJCCC conference standings.
The Ravens came out sluggish, being outscored by the Grizzlies 24-13 in the first quarter. The rest of the game saw the Red Ravens battling to make up the first quarter deficit. Coffeyville did cut the Butler lead down to 4 points in the third quarter, but were not able to get any closer and eventually lost by seven in the end, 70-77.
Red Raven sophomore Desiree Nelson was a bright spot in the loss scoring a game high 21 points on 7 of 8 from the three point line. Other contributors for the Red Ravens included sophomore guard Alanie Fisher (14 points) and freshmen forward Lucy Burke (19 points and 7 rebounds).
The Red Ravens next competition is a home game set for Saturday, February 25th. Coffeyville is set to play the Cougars of Barton County. Tip-off is 5:00 pm in Nellis West Gymnasium.
