Red Ravens Down OKWU

Before getting on the road for their first conference away game, the Red Ravens travelled to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to face the JV of Oklahoma Wesleyan, whose varsity team is currently ranked #3 in the NAIA. Over the past games the Coffeyville men's soccer team was unable to capitalize on multiple great chances each game and early on these woes continued. After the first half the Red Ravens were trailing 0-1 and fell behind another goal midway through the 2nd half. However, a strong mental and physical effort by the team saw them roar back from a two goal deficit and turn the game around within the last 15 minutes. Freshman Seun Koya scored the first of 3 Red Ravens goals of a low cross from fellow freshman Eian Haislett. A combination of two sophomores brought the 2nd goal shortly after, when Guilherme Lira finished a cross from Sergio Mojica-Miranda with a powerful header. With only a couple of minutes to play it was another freshman co-production that saw Seun Koya netting the winning goal off an assist from Matt Carey. Sophomore goalkeeper Ernesto Sontoy finished the game with 3 saves and also denied a score from the penalty spot with the friendly help of the goal frame.
