Men Win Season Opener

The CCC Men's Soccer team took down Metropolitan CC last Saturday night with a final score of 3 to 1.

After a solid start into pre-season the Red Ravens men's soccer team struggled early in their first match of the regular season. Rightfully so they found themselves trailing Metropolitan Community College after the first 15 minutes. However, coming back from a deficit has been the story throughout the pre-season and the Red Ravens were able to equalize the score after a penalty kick, including a red card for a Metro CC defender in the 20thminute of the first half. Freshman forward Guilherme Bittencourt stepped up and buried pk to record his first goal of the regular season.

Playing with a one-man advantage the Red Ravens were able to capitalize before the halftime whistle as midfielder Matt Carey finished a great combination play with a first time shot from inside the box. With a score of 2-1 both teams headed into halftime.

In the 2nd half the Red Ravens were unable to finish off a hard-battling Metro CC team, which was able to force sophomore goalkeeper Felipe Domingos to make multiple saves in the 2nd half. Domingos finished the game with 7 saves overall. Freshman midfielder Seun Koya was able to extend the lead by scoring his first goal of the season with a little more than 10 minutes left in the match.

The men will be back in action for their first home game of the season on Tuesday the 28th against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
