Soccer Recap (10/2-10/24)

Red Ravens Men's Soccer: 4-9-4; 2-7-1 conference

The Red Ravens Men's Soccer team has gone 1-3-1 since the last recap.  They have played tough teams during that stretch.  They have played Oklahoma Wesleyan JV, Kansas City Kansas CC, Johnson County, Neosho County, and Cowley.

Oklahoma Wesleyan JV (Tie 2-2): The Red Ravens battled hard as the game went into 2 overtimes.  The Red Raven offense was supported by goals from Baylor Cox and Gullherme Henrigue.  Ricardo Saucedo, Rafael Domingos, and Aaron Edwards assisted in those goals.  Henrique Lira scored at the 30 minute mark to give the Red Ravens the lead.  At the 45 minute mark, OKWU would tie it up with a shot that just squeaked by goalkeeper Nathan Hart.  Cox would answer with his own goal at the 63 minute mark.  As quickly as the Red Ravens scored, OKWU answered back at the 64 minute mark to tie the game.  Both teams fought hard through regulation and the two overtime.

Goalkeeper Hart went 10/13 on save attempts in 111:00 minutes.

Kansas City Kansas* (Loss 6-0): In a conference match, the Red Ravens couldn't pull together as KCK upheld their home field advantage.  The Red Ravens managed only five shots on goal as the Blue Devils' defense kept the ball off their side.  Defensively, the Red Ravens couldn't hold up as they were constantly having to defend the ball on their side.

Goalkeeper Nathan Hart went 6/10 and Felipe Domingos 3/5 on save attempts.

Johnson County* (Win 3-2): After falling to the Cavaliers in the first match of the season, the Red Ravens were able to get their revenge.  Rafeal Domingos had two goals and Edwards added a goal as well.  Cox had two assists while Domingos and Edwards also added an assist to their excellent day.  Domingos started the game off with his first goal at the 23 minute mark; he then closed the scoring for the day with the eventual game winner at the 80 minute mark.  The win was a great one for the program.  The Cavaliers are known for having a strong team, but head coach Jerrid Schike and his assistant Shane Ferguson prepared their team well heading into the game.

Goalkeeper Nathan Hart 1/1 and Felipe Domingos 8/10 on save attempts.

Neosho County* (Loss 3-2): The Red Ravens jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with goals from Davide Favilla and Edwards, but couldn't hold the lead throughout.  Being up 2-0 at the 30 minute mark, the Red Ravens looked primed to win their second game in a row, but Neosho would go on to score in the 35th, 79th, and 97th minute to take the match at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Goalkeeper Felipe Domingos 9/12 on save attempts.

Cowley* (Loss 5-2): The Red Ravens hosted conference opponent Cowley.  The Red Ravens fell behind quickly 2-0 as the Tigers scored on at 14:33 and 39:02 mark.  Favilla would respond and put the Red Ravens on the board with an assist from Edwards at the 44:59 mark.  The Tigers would go on to respond with two more goals in the second half.  The offense wouldn't give up as Cox scored a goal unassisted at the 72:23 mark.  The Tigers would drill one more goal at the 75:32 mark for the final score of the game.

Goalkeeper Nathan Hart 3/5 and Felipe Domingos 5/8 on save attempts.

Allen County* (Loss 3-0): Box score not available
