
Hays, Kan. - The #21 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community Men's Basketball Team ended their 2025 season with an 89-74 defeat at the hands of the #14 ranked Barton Cougars in the Semifinal round of the Region 6 Tournament. The Red Ravens were not picked as an At-Large bid into the 2025 NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championships. They will end their season with an overall record of 23-9 and a second-place finish in the 2025 KJCCC regular season standings.
Coffeyville entered the Semifinal game after splitting the regular-season series with Barton, with each team winning on its home court.
The Red Ravens started the game nicely jumping out to a quick 7-2 lead just two and half minutes into the contest. However, the game quickly turned as Barton ripped off a 24-1 run over the next ten minutes to take a 26-8 lead over the Ravens with 7:14 left in the first half. From that point on, Coffeyville was playing catch-up for the remainder of the game. The first half ended with the Cougars leading the Ravens 42-21.
Coffeyville outscored Barton by six points in the second half, but the deficit was too large, and the Cougars defeated the Ravens 89-74.
Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore Brian Griffith with a game-high 26 points and sophomore Justin Taylor with 13 points.
Coffeyville ends their season after being ranked in the NJCAA Top 25 rankings for a total of nine weeks with a high ranking of #10.
