#RV Red Ravens Drop a Close One to #18 NEO

Coffeyville, Kan. -  In a good early season test against a ranked opponent, The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball team lost a close home matchup against the Golden Norsemen of #18 NJCAA ranked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 90-87.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 3-2 on the season.

For the game, Coffeyville shot a presentable 10-28 (35%) from behind the arc, however, #18 NEO shot a scorching 17-30 (56%) from the 3-point stripe and that is what was the difference in the game.  Coffeyville out-rebounded NEO 39-29, out-assisted NEO 22-15, and had a better total field goal percentage (53% to 49%) than NEO but it was NEO's 3-point shooting that did the Ravens in.

Coffeyville was able to keep the game close throughout the first 35 minutes of game time but five made 3-pointers by NEO over the last five minutes of the game pushed the score out just enough to keep the Ravens behind on the scoreboard.  Coffeyville had a chance to push overtime but Red Raven sophomore guard Brian Griffith missed a contested 3-pointer as time was winding down.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included freshman forward Abdul Kuta with 26 points (a perfect 11-11 from the field) and 7 rebounds, Brian Griffith with 16 points, and freshman guard Trenton Ruth with 15 points.

Coffeyville will be heading on a western Kansas road trip this upcoming week as they are scheduled to play in Goodland (Fort Hays Tech NW) on Thursday, November 21st, and Colby (Colby CC) on Saturday, November 23rd.  Tip-off in Goodland is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Central Standard Time or 7:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
