
Great Bend, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball found themselves down early and raced back to take the lead in the Region VI Quarterfinals, however, the #1 NJCAA ranked Barton Cougars were too much in the end and defeated the Ravens 83-72. With the loss, the Red Ravens end their season with an overall record of 14-18.
Coffeyville came out sluggish in the first half and spotted Barton a 20-point lead at 33-13 with eight minutes to play in the first half. Battling back, Coffeyville finished the half strong and cut the lead down to 42-34 at halftime.
The Red Ravens' strong finish to the first half continued into the second half and at the 14:30 mark of the second half Coffeyville took the lead at 49-48 completing their 20-point comeback. The teams battled over the next 12 minutes of game time down to the final 2 minutes where Barton was able to make just a slight finishing push to keep the Red Ravens at bay and earn the 83-72 victory.
Red Raven sophomore Cris Carroll had a monster game for the Red Ravens pulling the 25-point/15-rebound double-double. Freshman Jahni Summers contributed 15 points and 6 rebounds while freshman Brian Griffith and CJ Smith each had 12 points.
