
Liberal, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team broke their five-game skid with a 90-79 victory over the Saints of Seward County. With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their 2024 season record to 10-14 including a 6-12 record in KJCCC matchups.
Coffeyville opened the game pushing to a 43-35 halftime lead over Seward. Seward mounted a comeback in the second half eventually taking a 61-57 lead with about eight minutes left in the game, however, Coffeyville closed over the remaining eight minutes to post the 90-79 victory.
The Ravens had a good night shooting the ball connecting on 49% (29-59) of their shots, including 8-19 (42%) from behind the arc. Coffeyville also outmuscled the Saints on the boards leading Seward 48-36 in rebounds.
Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore Cris Carroll with 23 points and 9 rebounds, freshman Jahni Summers with a 22 points 13 rebounds double/double, freshman Brian Griffith with 19 points, and freshman CJ Smith also with a double/double with 16 points & 10 rebounds.
Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, February 17th with a home matchup against the Barton Cougars. Game time in Nellis Hall is set for 4:00 p.m.
