Red Ravens Drop Home Game Against Butler 67-59

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball team dropped a home game against the Grizzlies of Butler 67-59.  With the loss, the Red Raven's overall record falls to 12-11 on the season including a 9-8 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  The 9-8 KJCCC record currently has Coffeyville sitting in sixth in the thirteen team division I KJCCC standings.

This matchup pitted Coffeyville's head coach Jay Herkelman against one of his former assistants, Kyle Fisher.  This is Fisher's third season as the head coach of the Grizzlies. 

Coffeyville came out strong in the first half, outscoring Butler 33-25, to take an eight-point lead into halftime.  However, in the second half, the Ravens were not able to find a flow offensively and Butler outscored the Ravens 42-26 in the second half to grab the 67-59 overall victory.

Statistically, Butler out-rebounded the Ravens 40-34 and outshot Coffeyville 43% to 36%.

Top performers for Coffeyville included sophomore guard Love Bettis who scored 16 points along with sophomore guard AJ McBride who pitched in 11 points.  Center Blaise Keita scored 8 points while pulling in 8 rebounds.

Coffeyville will return to action this Wednesday, February 9th with a Montgomery County clash as the Pirates of Independence come into Nellis Hall.  Tip-off for the matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
