Red Raven Love Bettis Continues to Sizzle in 71-61 Defeat of Cowley

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team has started the year off right winning their fourth game in a row with a 71-61 defeat of the Tigers of Cowley College.  With the victory, Coffeyville improves their overall record to 9-8 including a 6-5 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games.  The 6-5 KJCCC mark currently has the Ravens sixth in the thirteen-team KJCCC Division I standings. 

The Tigers of Cowley hung around through the first half and midway through the second half, but a strong finish from the Red Ravens extended the lead out over the last ten minutes of game time to push ahead for the 71-61 ten-point victory.

Since the calendar turned over 2022, Red Raven sophomore guard Love Bettis has found his groove.  Over the last three games leading into Cowley, Bettis had scored 25, 16, and 24 points in each of those contests while shooting a combined 25/40 for a sizzling 62.5% overall.

Against Cowley, Bettis continued his hot start to 2022 sinking 7/10 field goals (70%) including 5/7 from the 3-point line to lead the Red Ravens with 25 points in the 71-61 victory.  Other Red Ravens in double figures included guard AJ McBride with 12 points and guard Deng Mayar with 10 points.  Center Blaise Keita pitched in 7 points and 9 rebounds in the winning effort.

Coffeyville will look to continue their winning streak with a home contest scheduled against the Broncbusters of Garden City on Wednesday, January 19th with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff scheduled in Nellis Hall.
