In a home tilt of KJCCC East schools, the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens defeated the Allen County Red Devils 82-74. With the victory, the Red Ravens improve to an overall record of 19-8 and 11-6 in KJCCC action. The 11-6 KJCCC record currently has the Red Ravens in third place (behind Cowley 16-1 and Butler 13-4) in the 7 team division.
The game started out with the Ravens scoring quickly and early to mount a 10 point lead barely five minutes into the game. From that point on, the Ravens led anywhere from 5 to 15 points the rest of the game. Each time Allen would put in a spurt to close the gap, the Red Ravens would answer and push the lead back out again. Coffeyville closed at the end and finished with the 8 point 82-74 victory.
Sophomore Meikkel Murray was the scoring punch for the Red Ravens on this evening, ending the game with 26 points (11/16 from the field). Red Raven sophomore Tony Hutson kicked in another 19 points to help out.
Next up for the Ravens will be a road trip north for another chapter in the Montgomery County rivalry. Coffeyville is scheduled to battle the Independence Pirates in Indy on Wednesday, Feb 12th. Game time is set for 8:00 pm.
