The #23 ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven men's basketball team has traveled to Ottumwa IA to play in the Financial Partners Classic hosted by Indian Hills CC. In their Friday night (Nov 15th) game, the Red Ravens defeated the #14 ranked Southeastern CC 68-60. The win improves Coffeyville's overall record to an impressive early season 6-1.
Coffeyville and Southeastern shot poorly in the first half with the Red Ravens only hitting 9 out their 31 shots (29%) and Southeastern only sinking 5 of 18 (28%). The low shooting led to a low scoring half with Southeastern holding a slim 26-24 halftime lead. The second half saw both teams shoot better with the Ravens really heating up 59% to Southeastern's 48%. Overall Coffeyville outscored Southeastern in the second half by 10 pts (44-34) securing the 68-60 victory.
The Red Ravens had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures including sophomore Meikkel Murray (17 points), freshman Tylor Perry (16 points), sophomore Tony Hutson (14 points) and sophomore Manny Crump (12 points).
The Ravens return to action on Saturday, November 16th with their second ranked opponent in two days, facing #4 ranked tournament host Indian Hills CC. Tip-off is set for 7:00p in Ottumwa IA.
