Coffeyville Sweeps Postseason Awards; Brewer Wins KJCCC Player of the Year

The Coffeyville Red Ravens have had an outstanding season up to this point going 29-3. The season got that much sweeter after they swept through the KJCCC-East Awards and many other standout players got selected for the KJCCC honors.

Tevin Brewer was selected as the KJCCC Player of the Year. Brewer, a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, came to the Ravens after averaging 27 points per game for Eastern Oklahoma State College in 2017-18. A captain on the floor, Brewer was solid on both sides of the court and a voice that could be heard pushing teammates to be their best. Brewer had an outstanding year statistically, he averaged 12 points per game, shot  47% from the field, 42% from behind the arc, 91.6% from the free throw line, and had four assist per game.

Quawn Marshall, a sophomore from Little Rock, Arkansas, locked down the best players all year in crunch time for the Ravens and was selected KJCCC Defensive player of the Year for his efforts. Quawn averaged two steals per game and racked up a total of 62 steals this season.

The outstanding freshman Miekkel Murray received the KJCCC Freshman of the Year. Murray, who is from Bronx, New York, averaged 9.4 points per game and shot a outstanding 62% with 7 rebounds per game.

Head coach Jay Herkelman also received KJCCC Coach of the year to cap off his milestone year as head coach. 2018-19 will be a great one to remember for Coach Herkelman, Coffeyville went 29-3 overall, 19-1 in conference, won the Jayhawk Conference Regular Season Championship, was ranked in the top 10 the entire season, spent 10 of 12 weeks ranked in the top 5, was undefeated at home, has beat five top 25 teams this season and Coach Jay Herkelman set the all-time Region VI wins record formerly held by Francis Flax.

Coffeyville had players selected for the KJCCC first and second team. Tevin Brewer and Marvin Johnson were both selected for KJCCC First-Team. Marvin Johnson averaged 15.3 PPG/44.8 FG%.

Casey Benton and Keon Queen were selected for KJCCC Second Team. Benton averaged 9.4 PPG/38.9 FG%/76.7 FT%. Keon averaged 9.4 PPG/ 56.5 FG%/5.2 rebound per game.

There were also players selected as Honorable Mentions by the KJCCC:

Manny Crump- 7.5 PPG/ 49 FG%/37.5 3PT%/5.2 rebounds per game

Quawn Marshall- 5.5 PPG/47 FG%/ 44 3PT%/
