#4 Ravens Slay #9 Blue Dragons; Herkelman 11 Games Away

The #4 ranked Coffeyville Red Ravens faced off against the #9 ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons. With both teams being ranked they both came out like they had something to prove, the energy was high from tip-off. Both teams played great defense in the first half and forced one another to a low shooting percentage. Coffeyville shot 33% from the field and Hutchinson shot 35% from the field. Coffeyville scored 14 points off turnovers compared to Hutchinson's 8. Regardless of The Ravens shooting percentage being lower they were on top at the end of the half 31-26.

After the half The Red Ravens turned it up taking a close game and turning it into a game of catch up. They maintained the lead the whole half even getting out to a 18 point lead for a moment. The Red Ravens shot a outstanding 62% from the field and 66% from behind the arc in the second half, compared to Hutchinson's 54% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. Tony Hutson made two big three's down the stretch to help seal the deal, Tevin Brewer also had three of his own in the 2nd half. The final score of the game was 78-67 with Coffeyville on top.

The stand out player tonight was Tevin Brewer. Brewer finished with 15 points all of which came from beyond the arc, he also finished with 5 rebounds and 5 assist.

The Red Ravens look to earn their next win Sunday December 2nd at Northwest Technical College. GO RAVENS !

An extra note from this win: Hall of Fame Coach Jay Herkelman came into the season with 603 wins. With the win last night Herkelman now has 611 career wins. The all time record for wins in Region VI is held by Francis Flax of Brown Mackie at 621. Coach Herkelman is now 10 wins away from tying the all time record and 11 wins from breaking it.
