Broncbusters Bust Boards Against Red Ravens

Coming off their 77-73 loss to Colby, the Red Ravens looked to bounce back against conference opponent Garden City Broncbusters.

Starting the game without freshmen standouts, Marvin Johnson and Keon Queen, the Red Ravens would look to apply pressure without their defensive presence.

Early in the game, freshman starter, Casey Benton, led the way for the Red Ravens with his quick scoring and defensive pressure.  Benton would end up forcing two steals on the game with 15 points and three rebounds.  Once Benton started his scoring presence, the Broncbusters switched to guarding he and sophomore leader Travis Washington both tightly--multiple times double teaming both.

The Red Ravens were able to keep up with the Broncbusters in their back and forth scoring, but the biggest factor that prevented the Red Ravens from taking the game was their lack of rebounding.

On the game, the Broncbusters out rebounded the Red Ravens 46 to 29.  Joshua Hill tallied 7 rebounds for the Red Ravens, team high, while only playing 18 minutes.  For the Broncbusters, rebounding was a team effort as five of their players tallied five or more rebounds.

Offensively, the Red Ravens were led by Washington with 16.  Washington nailed down 11/13 free throws and 1/4 from behind the three point line.

The Red Ravens, currently #18 in the nation, look to get back on track against Butler on January 6th.
