Red Ravens Continue Their Winning Ways

Red Ravens Continue Their Winning Ways

The Red Ravens welcomed conference opponent Seward Saint into Nellis Hall as the team looked to improve on their early season success.

On the season, the Red Ravens were 9-1 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Despite the 67-64 score, the game never felt close.  The Red Ravens had several points where they were hampered by questionable calls, bad ball handling, and poor shot selection.  However, that did not slow down the defensive play of the team.

All but one player had a rebound and the team tallied nine steals.

While not playing as sharp as they normally do, the Red Ravens still pulled together and went on several runs.

Travis Washington "The President" tallied a team high 13 points, three assists, and three rebounds.  At one point, Washington was making three pointers three to four feet behind the arch.

Washington was not the only Red Raven starter to have a good offensive game.  Sophomore Cedric Roland "The Entertainer" posted a very impressive stat line with 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist while going six for seven at the free throw line.  Roland's ability to hit jump shots outside the paint forced Seward to draw out their big men to guard him.  This opened the lane for Roland's teammates to move and shed themselves from their defenders.

Sophomore Malik Keith also had 11 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

Washington and Keith continue to add to their impressive start as they help lead the Red Ravens towards their ultimate goal.

Head coach Jay Herkelman received a big boost from his bench as well.

Freshmen Marvin Johnson and Jackson Miller both produced big numbers for the Red Ravens off the bench.

Johnson had eight points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal; while Miller had eights points and five rebounds.

With the win, the Red Ravens improved to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in conference.

They will host Neosho on Wednesday, December 6th at 7:30pm at home.
