Red Raven Men's Basketball Win Close Game vs Independence at Home 80-79

The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens men's basketball team defeated the Independence Pirates 80-79.  The win moves the Red Ravens overall record to 6-0 and their KJCCC record to 2-0.

Winning close games is starting to become a habit for the Red Ravens.  In their last three games (NEO, Allen, and Independence), the Red Ravens have won by a combined 6 points.

This particular game was close through out with nine lead changes and ten ties.

With 8:30 left to play in the second half, the Red Ravens had built a 65-55 lead over the Pirates.  However, the Pirates came right back with a six point run to cut the Red Raven lead down to four at 65-61 with 7:15 left to play.'

The pirates saw their last lead of the game (71-69) with 3:15 left to play, but with two crucial Malik Keith 3 pointers down the stretch along with solid free throw shooting, the Red Ravens were able to hold on for the one point victory 80-79. 

Leaders for the Red Ravens include freshmen Malik Keith with a game high 26 points (on 9/16 shooting and 5/11 3 point shooting), sophomore Jordan Taylor (13 pts), and freshmen Travis Washington with 12 points and 6 assists.  Freshmen Brenton Jarrow helped out on the boards with 6 rebounds.

The Red Ravens face their first road game of the season in their next game with a road game at Dodge City to face the Conquistadors.  The game is scheduled for November 19th at 3:00 pm.
