Head Coach (1942, 1946-1948)

Former great quarterback for the Red Ravens in 1933.  Moved on to Texas Tech and played QB in 1935 and 1936.  When he finished his degree, he came back to Coffeyville in the late 30's as a junior high physical education teacher and help coached the junior high team.  In 1940, he went to the junior college to help coach on the staff of Dink Littrell.  In 1942, he became head coach and went 8-0.  During 1943, 1944, and 1945, he was a physical education instructor in the Army Air Corps.

After the war, he was head coach for the Ravens from 1946 thru 1948 with his teams winning 26 games, losing four and tying two.  He lead his team to 3 post season bowl games: Papoose Bowl in Oklahoma City, losing to Cameron, OK, 26-13.  In 1947 in the Coffee Bowl, they were defeated by Little Rock, AR, 31-7.  The 1948 team played in the first Wheat Bowl in Wichita, KS, where as the Eastern Division Champs, they went to a 6-6 tie with the Western Division Champs, Hutchinson.

After he finished his coaching career in 1948, he went into private business in Coffeyville and lived the rest of his life on a farm southwest of Coffeyville.
