Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team ended their season with a 26-21 home loss to the Broncbusters of Garden City. The Red Ravens will end their 2023 season with an overall record of 3-7 including a 1-5 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play.
Garden City scored first in the game on a 77-yard pass early in the second quarter. The Broncbusters missed the extra point and led 6-0 over the Ravens. Coffeyville answered later in the quarter as freshman quarterback Enzo Tedesco completed a 20-yard pass to sophomore receiver Joseph Young for a touchdown. Red Raven sophomore kicker Conner Gellender was good on the extra point and Coffeyville had the 7-6 lead at halftime.
Early in the third quarter, Coffeyville extended their lead with a 14-yard pass play from freshman quarterback Geremiah Moore to freshman receiver Baylor Nash to extend the Raven lead to 14-6 at the 10:56 mark of the third quarter.
Just fourteen seconds later, the Broncbusters connected on a long 91-yard touchdown pass. Garden City failed on a 2-point conversion and Coffeyville held a slim 14-12 lead at the 10:33 mark of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter went to the Broncbusters as they scored two rushing touchdowns with the second coming at the 5:22 mark of the fourth quarter to give them a 26-14 lead over the Ravens.
Coffeyville tacked on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Moore to freshman tight end Brec Long to pull the Ravens within 26-21 on the scoreboard.
Coffeyville tried an ensuing onside kick that was recovered by Garden City. Garden City was able to run out the clock to close the game with the 26-21 defeat of the Ravens.
