LEIKER NAMED HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

After much consideration, Coffeyville Community College has made the decision to change directions with the football program.

Effective immediately, Jeff Leiker will serve as the Red Ravens Head Football Coach and Athletic Director.  Prior to becoming Athletic Director in 2007, Leiker served as the head coach for seven years, compiling a 56-24 (.700) overall record.   The Red Ravens played in six straight bowl games from 2001-2006, winning three and earning its highest national ranking of #2 in the polls.   The 2019 season ended at 4-7 (.364) overall.

When asked about his plans for the football program, Leiker stated, “We’ve been here before.  My plan is to evaluate our current program to capitalize on our strengths and identify areas of improvement.  Additionally, I will be working to grow and develop the relationships with local and area high school football coaches.  Those coaches work with these kids on a daily basis.  They know which ones will be a good fit for a community college program that will allow them to play ball, develop their skills, and gain a quality education that will take them to the next level.”

Prior to joining the CCC family, Jeff served as Head Football Coach at Fort Hays State University from 1998 to 2000. Leiker has been an assistant coach at Missouri Western, Butler Community College, Hutchinson Community College and New Mexico State University.  He also served as the Head Football Coach at Garden City Community College where his teams earned conference championships in 1992 and 1994.

Jeff was inducted into the NJCAA Football Hall of Fame in 2010.  He is also a member of the CCC Lettermen’s Hall of Fame. He has a BS degree from Washburn University and a MS degree from the University of Tennessee.

Jeff is married to Jennifer and the couple have a son, Ryan, and a daughter, Allison.
