Red Raven Football Loses on Road at Iowa Central 45-17

In a road game at Fort Dodge Iowa on Saturday (Sept 7th), the Coffeyville Community College football team lost to the Iowa Central Tritons 45-17.

The first half saw Coffeyville fall behind early with the Ravens trailing at halftime 14-3.  The Ravens got a lone field goal on a 24 yard field goal by Coffeyville freshmen Seren Hughs-Ford.

The second half saw Coffeyville score a couple of touchdowns.  The first was a two yard run by Raven sophomore Challen Fa'amautau with the second coming on a 23 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Ewdin Kleinpeter to freshmen receiver Isaiah Taylor.

The Ravens rushing attack against Iowa Central was led by Coffeyville running back Challen Fa'amautau who managed 19 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown.  Raven quarterback Edwin Kleinpeter led Coffeyville in the air with 5 completions on 17 attempts for 91 yards and a touchdown.  Coffeyville's receiving corp was led by Isaiah Taylor with two receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Red Ravens saw sophomore defensive back Demarius Farmer lead the team with 8.5 tackles followed close behind by freshmen DB Brenton Clofer with 7.5 tackles.

The loss moves Coffeyville to 0-3 on the 2019 season (0-2 in the state of Iowa).

Coffeyville returns home this upcoming Saturday, September 14th with a big KJCCC clash with rival Butler County.  Kick-off at Veteran's Memorial Stadium is set for 7:00 pm.
