Red Raven Football Finishes Season Strong, Beats Ellsworth 30-13 in Homecoming Game

Saturday, Nov 2 2019

On a crisp homecoming Saturday night, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven football team defeated the Ellsworth Panthers 30-13.  The win finishes off the season for the Red Ravens with an overall record of 3-8 and a KJCCC record of 1-6.

Coffeyville climbed onto the scoreboard first with a 15 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Aubrey Williams to freshman wide receiver Isaiah Taylor.  The PAT from freshman kicker Seren Hughes-Ford was good and the Ravens had a 7-0 second quarter lead.

After a quick 3 and out from Ellsworth, the Red Ravens struck with a little trickery scoring on a 67 yard touchdown pass from sophomore running back Challen Fa'Amautau to sophomore wide receiver Jared Miles.  The PAT from Hughes-Ford was no good and the Ravens had a 13-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

The end of the second quarter belonged to the Panthers of Ellsworth as they were able to put together a couple of scores to pull the game to a 15-13 Raven lead at halftime.  The extra two points for the Ravens resulted when Coffeyville was able to block the PAT from Ellsworth's first touchdown and sophomore Dailon Gants scooped the block PAT up and ran the length of the field for the two points for Coffeyville.

The second half of the game all belonged to Coffeyville with the Red Ravens scoring first on a long 55 yard sophomore quarterback Edwin Kleinpeter touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Tyquez Hampton in the third quarter and sophomore running back Kyshaun Bryan rushing for a 11 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put the Ravens up 30-13 to finish the game.

Defensively, the Red Ravens were lead by sophomore linebacker Christian Gomez with 12 tackles and an interception and freshman linebacker Nahshon Puckett with 10 tackles.
