Red Raven Football Beats Arkansas Baptist 55-24, Earns First Win of the Year

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven football team earned their first win of the year in a 55-24 road victory over Arkansas Baptist.  With the win, the Red Raven's overall record moved to 1-5 to go alongside a KJCCC conference record of 0-3.

The Red Ravens were led by sophomore quarterback Cam Smith who went 12-26 for 272 yards and 4 touchdowns (3 passing and 1 rush) with an additional 50 yards rushing.  The top receivers for Coffeyville were freshman Isaiah Taylor with 3 receptions for 126 and a touchdown, sophomore Gregory Jean with 5 receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown and sophomore Jared Miles with 2 receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.  Coffeyville's ground game as led by sophomore Marco Lee with 16 rushes for 139 yards and a whopping 3 touchdowns. 

Defensively, the Ravens had one of their best performances of the year, holding Arkansas Baptist to a total of zero points in the second half.  Leaders for the defense included sophomore linebacker Miquel Pillow-Smiley with 2.5 sacks, sophomore linebacker Christian Gomez with 11 tackles and sophomore defensive backs Demarious Farmer and Marshawn Gibson each with an interception.  Freshmen linebacker Allen Watson had a big play to cap off the Raven scoring with a 46 yard fumble recovery for the last touchdown of the game.

Coffeyville wil return to KJCCC action this coming week with a home date against the Conquistadors of Dodge City Community College.  Gametime is set for Saturday, October 5th at 7:00 pm at Coffeyville's Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
