Ravens Get Back on Track Against Indy

The Ravens were back in action Saturday night as they took on Montgomery County rival Independence. CCC came into the night hungry to get back on the right track. Six minutes into the first quarter Carson Proctor found Anthony Thomas-Cobb for a 32-yard touchdown to get the game started right and put Coffeyville up 7-0. The score would remain the same for the rest of the first quarter.

Both defenses were stingy and the offenses would both sputter until the 2:40 mark in the second quarter where Marco Lee would break free for a 36-yard touchdown run. Independence would answer right before half by driving down the field quickly and converting on a 40-yard field goal by Adam Berry. The teams would go into halftime with Coffeyville leading 14-3

Independence showed they were not going to give in in the third quarter and ended up outscoring the Ravens 13-0 to take a 16-14 lead going into the final quarter.

The lead was short lived however. CCC's offense would go on a nine-play 51-yard drive that was capped off with DeShawn Massey punching in a 1-yard touchdown run to put CCC up 21-16. The score would hold there after the defense would make a stand and keep the Pirates from getting any closer.

The defense played exceptionally well against Independence. Markquese Bell, Malik Smith, and McArthur Burnett each had an interception on the night.

Marco Lee was the leader on offense on the night has 16 rushes for 122 yards and one touchdown.

Coach Flores would go on to say after the game "What a hard fought win by this group of young men. There has been plenty of adversity throughout this season and they could have easily given in, but they showed their character and fight tonight against Indy."

The Ravens are back in action Saturday October 27th as they take on Garden City. The game will take place at 7 pm at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Garden City will come into the match-up as the #2 ranked team in the Country.
