CCC Football Gets 600th Win in Program History

With 599 wins in the history of Coffeyville football, the Ravens were back in action Saturday as Iowa Central Tritons came into town. The first quarter kicked off exactly like the Ravens hoped. On third down for Iowa Central the Ravens defense sacked quarterback Blake Dever and jarred the football loose with Nahshon Bell Jr. scooping the ball up in the end zone and getting the Red Ravens on the board. After that initial score things got a little sloppy for the Ravens. Carson Proctor stepped back had his pass intercepted by Michael Slater and taken to the house. Then with the offense on the Tritons two-yard line there was a botched exchange on a hand off and the ball was fumbled and recovered by Iowa Central. The score sat at 13 to 7 Iowa Central after the first quarter.

Again the Ravens shot out of the gate in the second quarter with Monta Thomas scoring a 90-yard touchdown in the first minute. Then on their next possession, Monta Thomas punched it in again putting the Ravens up 21-13. Iowa Central started moving the ball down the field against CCC's defense until Alvinoski Lafleur made a huge play for the Ravens with a 65-yard pick six. After the extra point was missed the score was 27 to 13. Again, the Tritons started matriculating the ball down the field until they fumbled and Paris Wilson fell on the ball. With three minutes left in the first half Malik Smith had his second interception of the game. The Tritons ended up kicking a field goal right as time expired to put the game at 27 to 16 at half.

The Ravens bounced back right away with a quick 66 yard strike from Proctor to Andre Thomas-Cobb to start the second half. After the Ravens and the Tritons traded turnovers, Iowa Central drove down the field and Justin Blake connected with Kevaughn Dingle for a five-yard touchdown pass. Putting the game at 34 to 23. The score would remain the same going into the fourth quarter.

The defense made a big red zone stand to hold the Tritons to a field goal to start the fourth quarter. After trading three and outs, Iowa Central's Blake found Dingle again on a 53-yard strike. A failed two-point conversion by the Tritons kept the Ravens leading the game with the score at 34 to 32. That would be all Iowa Central would get on the day though as Lafleur would get his second pick six of the day to put the game out of reach. The Ravens defense would get one more pick six as time expired and leave the final score of the game at 47 to 32.

The defense had a heck of a day for the Ravens scoring four touchdowns and caused eight turnovers. Malik Smith and Alvinoski Lafleur each had two interceptions for the Raven defense and Lafleur scored twice on pick six's.

The win today by the Coffeyville Red Ravens is the 600th win in the programs history.

The Red Ravens will be on the road for their upcoming three games starting next week as they go to El Dorado, Kansas to take on their rivals Butler Community College. The game will be September 15th and with start at 7 pm.
