CCC Football Wins a Shootout in Fort Scott

The CCC Football team was back in action on Saturday night on the road against Fort Scott. The Red Ravens jumped out to an early lead by scoring two quick touchdowns making it 14-0 against Fort Scott. The Greyhounds, however, did not lie down. The score got to 27-14 in the second quarter and with a big fourth down conversion by Monta Thomas, the Ravens were able to continue their drive and score another touchdown before half. Coffeyville led Fort Scott at halftime 33-21.

Fort Scott jumped out of the gate in second half scoring a quick touchdown. The Ravens answered with a field goal, the teams exchanged touchdowns at this point and the Ravens led going into the fourth quarter 36-34. Monta Thomas was able to get his third touchdown of the game early in the third quarter. On Coffeyville's next drive the fumbled the ball and Fort Scott returned it for a touchdown cutting the Ravens lead to 43 to 41. The offense got back on the right path right away though and Thomas ran one in from 20 yards to extend Coffeyville's lead. Fort Scott would score with 7:27 left to put the score at 50-47. The score would stay there thanks to a defensive stand by the Coffeyville defense. With 55 seconds left in the game the Ravens stuffed Fort Scott on fourth down to get a turnover on downs and secure the victory.

DeShawn Massey and Monta Thomas were the stars of the game with Massey running for 201 yard and scoring one touchdown. Thomas had 151 yards and punched it is the end zone four times on the night. The Red Raven Football team will be back in action at home on Saturday September 8th against Iowa Central CC.
