Dasher adds to his numbers as Red Ravens fall to (RV) Garden City

(RV) Garden City (4-2; 3-2 conf.)

Red Ravens (1-5; 1-3 conf.)

The Red Ravens traveled to Garden City to take on reigning NJCAA National Champions Garden City BroncBusters on Saturday September 7th.

Down to their fourth string quarterback, the Red Ravens put up an extremely difficult fight for Garden City posting 32 points and keeping the game within striking distance until late in the fourth quarter.

One reason the Red Ravens were able to keep the game so tight was because of the efforts of Sophomore linebacker Vernon Dasher.  Dasher piled up a total of 7.5 tackles (four solos) and had another interception that he returned for a touchdown.  On the year that gives Dasher three interceptions with three touchdowns, 52 total tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.  He has certainly put up great numbers for his sophomore campaign and has been one of the highlights for the Red Raven team.

The Red Ravens saw improvements in their penalty yards as well.  Last week against Fort Scott, the Red Ravens tallied 11 penalties for 155 yards.  This week against a much tougher opponent, the Red Ravens surrendered only six penalties for 56 yards.

Fourth string quarterback, Aloyous Jackson played at a high level against the reigning national champs as well.  Jackson posted a line of 13/27, one touchdown, and 156 yards.  He gave up two interceptions as well.  On the ground, Jackson gained 52 yards on 16 rushes and one touchdown.

Faced with a difficult task, the Red Ravens didn't shy away from the challenge.  They showed fight, class, and heart as many teams and players could have easily stopped trying.  One thing for sure, Coach Leiker and his staff have kept their players heads on their target and have emphasized getting the job done to the best of their ability.

The Red Ravens look to get back into the win column as they face Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on October 14 at Veterans Memorial Stadium starting at 7:00pm.
