Ravens Drop Series to KCK

The Ravens drop a tough series against the Blue Devils of KCKCC. The Ravens drop the first 2 games at home 6-3 and 14-8. Coffeyville dropped the first 1 game at KCKCC 9-3, but got the job done in the final game of the series 7-5.

The Ravens came out fresh for the first game in the series at home with Aaron Bechtel on the mound throwing 6.1 innings, allowing 7 hits and 6 runs on the outing. Owen Logan would come out of the pen and get the final 2 outs of the game with no runs and no hits allowed. The Raven offense posted 9 hits but their run production was not enough to win the ball game. Sophomore Blake Carroll went 2-3 scoring 1 of the Ravens runs. Coffeyville falls short in game 1, 6-3.

In game 2 Coffeyville puts Tucker Sparks on the mound. Tucker threw for 5.2 innings on 5 hits and 8 runs. In from the pen, Owen Logan came out and gave up a run before he we replaced by Chance Crowley in the bottom of the 6th inning. Chance threw .2 inning allowing 3 hits and 2 runs in his 2 out performance. Dom Scuderio came into the game to pitch .2 innings as well but on no hits, no runs and a strikeout for the Ravens before Dempsey Battin would come on for the final 2 outs of the game recording 3 runs, on 5 hits in 2.0 innings of work. Coffeyville offense did their part in coming up with the runs. The Raven offense scored 8 runs on 11 hits including a 3-5 performance from Sophomore Zac Freeman including a stolen base, run scored and an RBI on the night.

For game 3 Coffeyville hit the road and traveled away to Kansas City. The Ravens lost back to back at home and were looking to redeem themself. Sophomore Jackson Blancarte took the mound for this matchup, Blancarte went 6.0 innings and gave up 8 runs and 9 hits on 2 strikeouts. The Coffeyville defense is normally solid as they own the top spot in the league in fielding percentage at .970, but they managed to record 4 errors in the game giving up some free bases. The Blue Devils gained the momentum early scoring 9 in the first 3 innings. Coffeyville competed hard in the money innings of the game scoring 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th, but the effort wouldn't be enough. The Ravens fell short with the final box score being 9-3.

In game 4 the Ravens had to take a step back from the situation they were in. They did not see themself down 0-3 going into the 4th game of the series. Coffeyville was determined coming out after that third loss not to get swept from the series. Freshman Raymond Farrell got the start on the bump for the Ravens, Ferrell went 4.1 innings giving up 8 hits, 5 runs, and 1 strikeout. Matt Hunt would come in from the pen and go 4.2 giving up 6 hits,and 3 strikeouts,but most importantly he kept them scoreless. The Ravens offensive was on point, racking up 12 hits on the day grinding out every at-bat. Sophomore Austin Bonnell lead the game off with a homerun to left, sparking the plug from the start. Sophomore Zac Freeman went 4-5 with 1 run scored and a triple. Freshman Jalen Smith went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 clutch RBI's in the 6th inning to tie the game up 5-5. The Ravens showed great pride pulling this tough win off and avoiding getting swept. The final score was 7-5 Ravens.

The Ravens are back in action again at home in their final series of the regular season against The Cavaliers of Johnson County Community College on on Thursday May 2, 2019
