Ravens Split with Red Devils

The Red Ravens split with the Red Devils of Allen County in a Thursday Friday series starting out in Iola, Kansas. Aaron Bechtel and Tucker Sparks on the mound for the first two and Jackson Blancarte and Raymond Farrell on the bump for the second. Coffeyville loses the first in both days and won the second in both days.

The Ravens started of quick with the bats. Austin Bonnell broke the game open with a double to the left side. Bonnell was later knocked in by an RBI single off the bat of Jorge Ortiz. Aaron Bechtel was on the mound for the first game throwing game one of the series. Aaron starts out throwing 5.1 innings throwing eight straight outs before giving up a hit in the bottom of the third with two outs, this runner was erased quickly though, Aaron continues his no run performance with a fly out to center. Bechtel came out for more but worked for only 1.1 more innings before a move to the bullpen happened on account of eight hits and eight runs. Dom Scudiero came out and works for 0.1 inning on one hit and no runs. Connor Ratliff came out to finish the fifth inning and the first out of the sixth on three hits and four runs. Kreighton Rogers came on to try to finish the game off and gives up two runs on three hits and sadly for the Ravens the final runs. The Ravens lose game one of the series, 14-4 in 6 innings.

Tucker Sparks was on the hill for the second starting off very strong with a one, two, three inning on only four pitches. Tucker walked the next guy he faced but later picked him off at first. Sparks wouldn't give up a hit until the bottom of the fourth inning where he gave up a two out single. The runner would later be erased by a two run fly out to right field. Sparks continued to pitch well giving up only four more hits to the Red Devils and only one run on seven innings of work. The Red Ravens hitters get hot as well Chase Freeman got the Ravens going offensively with a base hit to the right side. The Ravens would come up short for the second but in the third inning the Ravens left fielder Blake Carroll hit an absolute tank shot over the right field wall for a solo home run. Later in the fourth, Jorge Ortiz gets the Ravens going with a leadoff single where he is later hit in by another long shot this time off the bat of Luis Mendoza, a two run homerun over the right-center wall. Chase Freeman would later hit another two run home run over the left center wall for the Ravens. The Ravens would combine for twelve hits and fifteen runs. The Ravens run-rule the Red Devils, 15-1.

For the Ravens in game three, Jackson Blancarte started on the mound where he goes two innings without giving out a hit where he gave up a double up the middle in the bottom of the third. Jackson later gave up only four hits and three runs. Coffeyville bats would come to life in the second inning where Jorge Ortiz hits a leadoff single, Ortiz and Mendoza would later be knocked in on an RBI triple off the bat of Noah Wallace. Those would end up being the Ravens only two runs of the game, The Ravens score two runs on five hits and drop a very close game, 3-2.

Raymond Farrell starts on the mound for the fourth and final game of the series. Raymond gets a quick two outs then up a single which he would later get out of the situation by getting a flyout to right field. Farrell would throw 5.0 innings total on six hits and four of those coming in to score. Owen Logan would come in after to throw 1.0 inning and only three hits, three singles in the top of the sixth and only one came into score. Anthony Blanchette would come into the game for the top of the seventh where he gave up a leadoff double where he later get a strike out and a flyout before Matt Hunt would come into finish off the seventh with a strikeout. In the eighth, Matt gave up a single to start the eighth who would later be knocked in by a single but not before Matt could record another strikeout. In the ninth Matt would see four guys and retire three by pitching to contact getting a fly out to the second basemen, a ground out to Luis Mendoza at short and another fly out but this time to third. The Ravens hitters were good as well. Chase Freeman started the their half of the first with a walk bringing up his brother, Zac Freeman hits a two run home run over the right field wall. The Ravens would string together a total of fifteen hits on fourteen runs, four of those fifteen hits were extra base hits. The Ravens win the final game of the series, 14-9.

The Ravens are back in action again at home Tuesday, April 16th against Hutchinson Blue Dragons at 2pm.
