Red Raven Baseball Splits 4 Game Series Against Butler

The Coffeyville Community College baseball team played the Butler County Grizzlies over the weekend in a four game, home and away series.  The Red Ravens split the four game series, winning two of the four games.

The four game split moved the Red Ravens overall record to 4-3.

Games #1 and #2 were played Friday, February 10th in Coffeyville at Walter Johnson Park.  Games #3 and #4 were played on Sunday, February 12th in El Dorado Kansas at McDonald Stadium.

Game #1 on Friday saw the Red Ravens defeat the Grizzlies 14-13.  Red Raven freshmen Kannon McCune pitched 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs on 5 hits and striking out 9.  Offensively, the Red Ravens were paced by sophomore first baseman Jose Carrasquillo who went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's.  

In game #2 on Friday, the Ravens lost 9-5 to Butler.  Freshman catcher Brett Mitchell went 2-3 from the plate with a double and an RBI in the loss.

Game #3 on Sunday in El Dorado Kansas saw Coffeyville get a thrilling 2-1 victory in eight innings over Butler.  Red Raven sophomore left handed pitcher Sam Carver went a strong 6 innings with no runs on 3 hits and 2 strikeouts.  Carver is currently riding an 11 inning scoreless streak to start the season.  The Red Raven offense was provided by sophomore left fielder Braden Kirkpatrick and red shirt freshmen third baseman Carson Pickard.  Kirkpatrick went 2 for 3 with a double and run scored while Pickard went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Coffeyville lost game #4 of the series against Butler 9-5.  Butler put up 7 runs in the second inning and the Ravens were not able to recover. Red Raven freshmen Tyler Brown and sophomore Kyler Cook each had 2 RBI's on the day.

The Red Ravens will return to action on Saturday, February 18th with a double header scheduled in Hutchinson Kansas against the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.  Game times are set for 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
